London, UK, 20 April 2010 – Lombard Medical Technologies PLC (AIM: LMT), announced today that Dr. John Hardman from Royal United Hospital in Bath, UK, presented updated results from an expanded dataset in the Retrospective Aorfix™ Data Retrieval (“RADAR”) Registry at the 32nd International Charing Cross Symposium (10-13th April).
The growing RADAR dataset now includes 931 patients that have been enrolled into the voluntary Registry from 206 Hospitals in 22 countries.
Dr Hardman pointed out that the Aorfix™ stent graft is utilized frequently in advanced disease that has caused tortuous and challenging anatomy, and therefore one might expect to see complication rates that are higher than in standard cases. Greater than 40% of the patients in RADAR are considered to have tortuous and challenging anatomy. Despite this high concentration of difficult cases, the data continues to be encouraging. Current RADAR results show:
• An iliac limb occlusion rate of 0.2%
• The absence of any reported stent graft migration (> 10mm) at one year
• Type 1 proximal endoleak rates of <1% and 2.8% for patients with aneurysm neck angulations of ≤60° and >60° respectively.
Other non-Aorfix™ studies have shown limb occlusion rates of 7.5%, stent graft migration rates of 2.3%, and Type 1 proximal endoleak rates of greater than 10% in less challenging patient populations. (Data on file at Lombard Medical)
John Rush, Chief Executive of Lombard Medical, commented:
“We are pleased to see that as the numbers increase in our RADAR Registry, our data continues to look promising, particularly in the tortuous high neck-angle population. We are committed as a Company to collecting and publishing data in this challenging patient population to provide the clinical community with information to help make better decisions for their patients.”
