Mike Stevens (Senior Independent Non-executive Director)
Michael (63) joined the Board in December 2005. Until his retirement in July 2005, Mike was Executive Vice President, Staff Executive at GE Healthcare. This involved membership of the company’s Executive Leadership Team. For over four years until GE Healthcare acquired Amersham plc in April 2004, Mike was Corporate Development Director of Amersham, having responsibility for strategic planning co-ordination, corporate level M&A activity and research and development portfolio analysis. Prior to joining Amersham he held senior positions at major pharmaceutical companies such as Gedeon Richter in Hungary, Wellcome plc and the Syntex Corporation in California. Mike is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has also studied at INSEAD business school in France.
Mike is the Senior Independent Non-executive Director and on 19 March 2008 was appointed Chairman of the Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Nomination Committee.
